How to apply Shellac?

emmi®NAIL UV Polish is easy to apply and scratch and impact resistant. But how do you apply it so that it lasts as long as possible? You'll find the most important tips and tricks in our clear step-by-step instructions. Most importantly: make sure you are not exposed to sunlight during application.

Step 1:

Prepare your natural nail as usual. Push back your cuticles with an orange wood stick or metal cuticle pusher and remove excess cuticle with a cuticle scissors or cuticle nipper.

File your free nail edge into shape, then buff the nail with a buffer.

Step 2:

Then apply the UV Polish Base/Top Coat or UV Polish Base Coat. It is important to cap the free nail edge and apply the UV Polish Base/Top Coat in three brush strokes (middle, left, right). 

*Curing time: 120 seconds in a UV lamp or a UV/LED lamp

Step 3:

The first coat of Shellac serves as a base. The color is then applied opaquely with the second coat, also in three brush strokes. Here too, the free nail edge must be capped so that the color lasts a long time.

*Curing time: 120 seconds in a UV lamp or 60 seconds in a UV/LED lamp

Step 4:

Then the polish is sealed with the UV Polish Base/Top Coat or UV Polish Top Coat. Apply it in three brush strokes, as in the previous steps.

Step 5:

Finally, remove the inhibition layer (= sticky residue) with a lint-free wipe and our High-Gloss Cleaner.

How to remove Shellac?

Our emmi®NAIL Shellac lasts a really long time, but eventually you'll want a new color on your nails. We've summarized how you can easily remove the gel polish manicure in simple steps for you:

Option 1:

Roughen the polish with a buffer / buffer file until it is no longer shiny. CAUTION: Please only roughen the polish, not the natural nail.

Soak a Remover Wrap with Remover. Wrap the nail with the wrap and leave the Remover on for 8 minutes. For a better hold, clasp the nail with our Remover Clips. For even easier removal, hold your nails in the light curing device during the exposure time.

*Exposure time: 8 minutes

Option 2:

Pour some remover into a manicure bowl and dip your nails in. Let the remover soak for about 3 minutes. Then carefully try to loosen the polish layer with an orange wood stick. If the layer does not yet loosen, let the remover soak for another minute. 

Please note that you should not let the remover soak for more than 10 minutes.
